Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed sympathies to people in various parts of the country affected by Monday morning floodwaters, according to a post.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the NPP flagbearer urged citizens to comply with directives issued by the government and to fully cooperate with institutions to ensure their safety.
“This morning, my thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of our people affected by the floods. My deepest sympathies to those who have lost their loved ones and properties and those who have been forced out of their homes,” said Dr. Bawumia.
The former vice president also urged emergency services and all relevant authorities to do everything possible to reach those in need and assist them.
Continuous downpours in Accra-Tema and its environs have left several areas inundated, with many major roads shut.
Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has urged residents to stay and work from their homes and also those living in low-lying areas to move to higher grounds. End item
