The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and other political parties will stage its “Democracy Under Attack” demonstration on Thursday, August 6, 2026, National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B said on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference in the Ghanaian capital, Nana B disclosed that they are protesting against what they describes as threats to Ghana’s democratic governance, constitutional order, and the rule of law.
According to the party, the protest march in Accra will begin at 6:00 a.m. at the Supreme Court and proceed to Jubilee House, where organisers intend to present petitions to key state institutions.
The NPP says the demonstration is aimed at drawing attention to concerns over alleged political intimidation, selective prosecution, and developments it believes undermine democratic institutions.
Meanwhile, Thursday’s demonstration by the largest opposition party and others has received police approval, and the party has called on its supporters nationwide to participate peacefully.
Ahead of the protest, the NPP also directed aspirants in the Greater Accra Region to suspend campaign activities to mobilise for the event. Enditem
