High Court jails Larry Dogbey 7 days over Petraco publication

By News Desk

An Accra High Court has sentenced Larry Dogbey, managing editor of The Herald newspaper, to seven days’ imprisonment over a publication connected to Petraco.

The sanction was reported as a contempt-related punishment arising from the publication, not a seven-year prison sentence.

The reported basis for the contempt finding was not that Larry Dogbey wrote about Petraco itself, but that the court considered the publication to have crossed the line from reporting into interfering with or undermining an active court process.

The Petraco publication involved a story published by The Herald and linked to reporting around a dispute involving Petraco Oil Company SA and business interests connected to Ghana’s energy sector.

Larry Dogbey has been involved in a number of high-profile media and legal disputes over newspaper publications in previous years, including defamation actions. Enditem
