Colombian Army destroys explosive attributed to FARC dissidents on a rural road in Ituango

Colombian Army troops destroyed, in a controlled operation, an explosive device placed on a road in the rural area of Ituango, in Antioquia department.

Images shared on Saturday by the Seventh Division of the National Army of Colombia show a canine team approaching the explosive, while specialised personnel secured the area before the controlled detonation.

The operation took place in the hamlet of Los Galgos, on the road corridor that connects the municipalities of San Andres de Cuerquia and Ituango. According to the authorities, the explosive was allegedly planted by GAOr Substructure 18, an armed group belonging to the FARC dissidents.

During the procedure, a flag referring to that group was removed. The Army indicated that the operation caused no harm to the population, infrastructure or military personnel.
