Russian President Vladimir Putin said a significant increase in trade figures between Moscow and Beijing was expected by the end of 2026, during a meeting with Chinese Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on Thursday.
“Over the past three years, trade turnover has consistently exceeded the 200 billion mark – in 2025, it was almost 240 billion – forming a solid foundation for bilateral co-operation. We expect to set a new record by the end of this year,” he said.
Putin also claimed that the volume of mutual investment was growing and energy co-operation was deepening.
Ding Xuexiang stated that the Eastern Economic Forum served as an important platform for co-operation between countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
“China will, as always, actively support and participate in co-operation on the development of Russia’s Far East, so that more and better outcomes of mutually beneficial and win-win co-operation may be shared by the peoples of both countries,” he said.
“For our governments, bringing benefits to the people is the most important objective in safeguarding the fundamental interests of our countries and peoples; it is a noble pursuit,” he concluded.
The Eastern Economic Forum takes place from September 1-4, in Vladivostok, in Russia’s Far East. The landmark economic event brings together officials, business leaders and experts from Russia and abroad.
This year’s theme is ‘The Far East: Development for the Benefit of People’, with more than 70 sessions covering investment, international co-operation, technology, logistics and infrastructure. More than 5,000 people from over 70 countries have applied to attend.
