French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Eindhoven on Wednesday for talks with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten on European technology, defence and economic cooperation.
Footage shows Jetten welcoming Macron at Eindhoven Airport before the two leaders walk together following the French president’s arrival.
The visit focuses heavily on Europe’s technology industry, with France and the Netherlands looking to strengthen the continent’s position in artificial intelligence and semiconductor production.
Macron and Jetten were due to hold delegation talks in Eindhoven covering the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, economic and defence cooperation and other issues on the European agenda.
The two leaders were also scheduled to meet French and Dutch technology companies before visiting semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASML in nearby Veldhoven.
At ASML, talks were expected to focus on strategic investment projects and expanding Europe’s capacity in artificial intelligence and semiconductor technology.
Macron’s stop in the Netherlands comes before he travels to Britain for talks with Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
