New Patriotic Party (NPP) former General Secretary John Boadu has secured the number one position on the ballot paper in the party’s upcoming National Chairmanship race, according to the balloting held on Wednesday.
Leading member of the NPP Sammy Crabbe secured the number two position while former Chairman Paul Afoko and former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko picked numbers three and four respectively.
The NPP, as part of its reorganisation efforts is scheduled to hold national executive elections on October 3, 2026.
The chairmanship contest was initially joined by five aspirants, but former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi withdrew from the contest because of his incarceration.
The four remaining contenders will now campaign for the support of the party’s electoral college.
Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi and his campaign team has thrown their unflinching support to former General Secretary John Boadu.
A recent Global InfoAnalytics survey had placed Boadu ahead of Agyarko and Afoko, although Agyarko’s campaign team rejected the poll, arguing that it did not specifically target NPP delegates who will vote in the election. Enditem
