President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for New York to participate in the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The 2026 UNGA is being held under the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All.”
President Mahama is scheduled to host two high-level side events, including an Accra Reset event on September 21 and a session on reparatory justice and the restitution of cultural properties and heritage on September 23.
He will deliver Ghana’s official statement during the General Debate on Thursday, September 24. His programme also includes meetings with world leaders, the UN Secretary-General and business executives, as well as a US-Ghana Presidential Roundtable and engagements with the Ghanaian diaspora.
The President is accompanied by the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, other Cabinet ministers and senior government officials. Enditem
