President John Dramani Mahama will host two high-level side events during the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, according to a statement from the presidency on Saturday.
According to the statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson for Ghana’s President and Minister for Government Communications, Mahama, apart from delivering Ghana’s official statement during the UNGA, will also host a high-level event on the ‘Accra Reset’ and another on the ‘Next Steps’ on September 21 and 23, respectively.
“President John Dramani Mahama has left Accra to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. He will host two key side events to support Africa’s renewal and advance global action on historical justice. On Monday, Sept. 21, President Mahama will host a high-level event on the ‘Accra Reset,’ convening world leaders to discuss full-circle making global development work again,” read the statement.
It added, “On Wednesday, Sept. 23, a side event on the ‘Next Steps’ will address commitments to action on reparatory justice and advancing international cooperation for the return and restitution of cultural properties and heritage.”
To promote Ghana as a leading destination for business and investment, the presidency said Mahama will ring the NASDAQ Closing Bell and meet with business leaders at a US-Ghana presidential roundtable organized by the US-Africa Chamber of Commerce.
In addition, the Ghanaian leader will participate in meetings to strengthen partnerships, encourage investment, and engage with the diaspora as well as meet with world leaders, including the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and top executives from multinational companies. Enditem
