Public transport fares across Ghana will increase by 8 percent effective Saturday, September 26, 2026, following an agreement between the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) and the Ministry of Transport on Tuesday.
The adjustment will affect shared taxis, intra city (tro-tros), inter-city, and haulage commercial transport services. The unions said the review took into account changes in fuel prices, spare parts, vehicle maintenance and other operational costs.
Under the new schedule, a GH¢5 trotro fare will rise to GH¢5.50, while a GH¢10 fare will increase to GH¢11. For inter-city travel, a GH¢100 fare will rise to GH¢108, while GH¢300 will become GH¢324.
The new fares are to be displayed at transport terminals, with operators directed to comply with the approved rates. Enditem
