Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Sunday congratulated newly elected regional executives following the successful elections across the country, according to a statement on Sunday.
The statement, signed by the Communications Directorate of the former Vice President, observed that the conduct of the elections reaffirms the party’s commitment to internal democracy and respect for the will of members of the NPP.
According to the statement, Dr Bawumia is optimistic the newly elected executives will provide effective leadership to strengthen the party and position it for victory in the next general election in 2028.
“The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, congratulates all newly elected Regional Executives following the successful elections across the regions,” read the statement.
It added, “The regional contest is over; the greater task is unity and renewed energy to secure victory in 2028, and it begins now.”
He commended all candidates for offering themselves for service and urged those not successful to rally behind the newly elected executives.
The largest opposition party, as part of measures to reorganise the party, held executive elections across the country to elect regional officers to steer the affairs of the NPP for the next four years.
