US President Donald Trump has said Israel would have been ‘wiped out’ if he had not stopped Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
“Iran will never have a nuclear weapon; that’s a very big thing because if you want to see turmoil and a travesty, let them take out a city with a nuclear weapon,” Trump said.
“There’d be no Middle East. And then the rockets and the bombs would start coming our way and Europe’s way. And I stopped it,” he added.
On Saturday, Trump confirmed the US turned down an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restart talks with Washington. Tehran maintained that reopening the strategic waterway requires its conditions to be met.
