The Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have agreed to establish a technical search committee to oversee the appointment of the next Black Stars head coach.
The decision followed a meeting between Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, GFA President Kurt Okraku and members of the GFA Executive Council on Friday, October 2, 2026.
The committee is expected to include three representatives from the government, giving the Ministry a formal role in the search and evaluation of potential candidates. The GFA will retain responsibility for the formal appointment process.
The vacancy follows the mutual termination of Carlos Queiroz’s contract after Ghana’s difficult start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The meeting follows the exit of Carlos Queiroz on Thursday after the Black Stars recent poor runs in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, falling 2-0 away to Côte d’Ivoire before suffering a 4-2 home defeat to The Gambia. Enditem
