The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the successful election of its new national executives, according to a statement on Monday
The statement, signed by NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey said the party reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political engagement, democratic values and the collective responsibility of political actors to protect and deepen Ghana’s democratic gains.
The NDC expressed hope that the new NPP leadership would work to ensure that Ghana’s national interest takes precedence over partisan considerations.
“It is the fervent hope of the NDC that under the tenure of this new crop of executives, there will be mutual effort to ensure that the interest of Ghana always surpasses the narrow interest of the two respective parties,” the statement said.
The message follows the NPP’s national executive elections held in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, where John Boadu was elected National Chairman and Justin Frimpong Kodua retained the General Secretary position.
The NDC said cooperation between the two major political parties would help advance the broader goal of making Ghana “great and strong.” Enditem
