Gold Board’s Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sammy Gyamfi, on Sunday, apologised to Ghanaians for the dollar gift he presented to former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist, Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, over the weekend.
According to a post on his X account, formerly Twitter, he stated what he did was a gesture to a fellow human being and that he did it out of kindness and never imagined it could get to the public domain.
He expressed regret about his action and apologised to all who were hurt by his gesture.
“Folks, I have taken notice of the wave of criticisms against my person in the last 24 hours. To clarify, this was simply a kind gesture to a fellow human being in line with my daily and life-long custom of lending a helping hand to people in need,” the Communications Officer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“I must say that I understand the uproar that this gesture has generated, particularly from comrades who are sincerely hurt by same. To all such comrades who are sincerely hurt by same. To all such comrades, I am sincerely sorry for this unfortunate act of indiscretion. I respect and appreciate your views,” he added.
The Goldbod CEO stated that his view of public office as a privilege to serve society, solve problems, and help others has not changed.
A video of Sammy Gyamfi emerged on social media over the weekend in which Sammy Gyamfi was seen to have picked an amount of money, allegedly 2000 U.S. dollars, from his vehicle and gifted it to Nana Agradaa, also known as Mama Pat.
The video got several people talking about it, with some wondering how the anti-corruption crusader could be caught in the web just about five months in office.
The NDC Communications Officer took on appointees of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for opulent lifestyle and made several allegations of some using public office to amass wealth clandestinely. Enditem
