The Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) has arrested a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye at the Accra International Airport (AIA), according to the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong on Sunday.

Officers of the EOCO with the help of Immigration officers arrested Dennis Miracles Aboagye at the airport and took into custody.

The NPP General Secretary also confirmed that since his arrest, state officials have denied his lawyers access and his whereabouts is not disclosed with no charges preferred.

“Officers of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) with the help of Immigration officers arrested Dennis Miracles Aboagye at the airport and took into custody. Since then they have denied his lawyers access and his whereabouts is not disclosed with no charges preferred,” Kodua Frimpong said in a statement.

For now, no official charges have been preferred against the high critic of the John Mahama-led administration but sources have linked his arrest to claims of corruption-related issues linked to his time as Chief Executive Office (CEO) of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCC) in Ghana.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye is one of the loudest and most effective critics of this government. He has asked hard questions about galamsey and challenged this administration’s record.

He announced his candidacy for a leadership position in our party only hours ago on Sunday. Enditem
