“I will run till I become president”—Dr. Hassan Ayariga

By Francis Kobena Tandoh

Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga, said late Tuesday that he will not stop contesting general elections in the country until he is elected president of Ghana.

According to him, the same problems of this country keep recurring, and he is desirous of winning the presidency to correct the wrongs of Ghana.

He observed that because of the manner this country has been managed over the years by succeeding governments, what is abnormal has become normal to Ghanaians.

“I will run until I become president for things to change in Ghana,” he told Paul Adom Otchere on “Good Evening Ghana.”

Dr. Ayariga bemoaned the practice of government upon government running the economy on borrowing and emphasized he, if elected president, will run Ghana without borrowing.

He said, “If I am given the nod as president, I will run Ghana without borrowing.”

The APC leader criticized the manner governments have allowed foreigners to own properties in the country and urged Ghanaians to rise up and protect their lands.

His comments come on the heels of allegations that Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu, the one proclaiming to be the Igbo King in Ghana, intends to buy huge acreage of land in the Greater Accra Region to build an Igbo Village in the country.

Dr. Ayariga urged the government to halt such moves by the foreigners in order not to compromise the peace and stability of Ghana.

“We must protect and build this country together. We should not allow foreigners to take over our property, and I will urge all Ghanaians to join in our demonstration against the ‘Igbo King’ on Saturday,” he added. Enditem
