MTN PULSE and Stanbic Bank have successfully held the third edition of their Digital Skills Training Programme, a strategic initiative designed to equip young Ghanaians with the knowledge, tools, and mindset required to thrive in the digital economy.
The event held in Accra, at Stanbic Bank Heights, brought together over 60 young participants from diverse backgrounds, including students, National Service personnel, early-career professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals engaged in agriculture, fashion, retail, and the creative arts. Since its inception, the programme has trained more than 200 youth across Ghana.
The partnership between the two institutions reflects a shared commitment to addressing youth unemployment through innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital capacity building.

Preparing Ghana’s Youth for a Digital Future
Nana Serwaa Bossman, Head of Youth Banking at Stanbic Bank, said the training forms part of a broader strategy to empower young people to become problem-solvers and job creators.
“The world is going digital, and Ghana’s youth must not only adapt but lead. This training is about helping them move beyond just using digital tools for recreation.
We are preparing them to identify real-world problems and apply digital solutions in ways that generate income and drive development,” she stated.
She added that the training also places a strong emphasis on soft skills, including entrepreneurial resilience and personal development.
“After the second edition, a young man wrote to us and said the programme had changed his perspective entirely. He applied what he learned to his small business and is now planning to scale. That’s the kind of transformation we aim to replicate on a larger scale,” she noted.
“In the next few years, we envision a shift young people no longer waiting for jobs but actively creating opportunities,” Nana Serwaa Bossman said. “This training is laying the foundation for that future. It aligns with our vision to support young people in becoming innovators, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.”

Building Strong Brands in the Digital Space
Otu Asamani an Advertising Coordinator at MTN Ghana and a professional MC popularly known as Mister Otu, led an engaging session on digital branding and strategic content creation.
“A brand is not just a logo. It’s about how people feel when they interact with you or your business,” he explained. “Many young people are active online but lack direction. Our goal is to help them become intentional, consistent, and impactful in their digital engagement.”
Mister Otu stressed that one of the key challenges facing youth entrepreneurs is implementation. “The knowledge is often there, but the discipline and consistency are missing. We guide them to bridge that gap—to move from knowing to doing.”
Participants learned how to use various tools to monitor their online performance, create authentic engagement with audiences, and build trust and visibility across multiple platforms.
Inclusive and Practical Approach
The Digital Skills Training Programme is held quarterly and runs as a half-day event combining expert presentations, interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and networking opportunities.
The training is intentionally designed to be inclusive, targeting young people aged 18 to 35 regardless of academic or professional background.
“This programme is not limited to students or tech-savvy individuals,” said Mister Otu. “We’ve had farmers, artisans, cultural workers, and small-scale traders attend and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Although the programme does not currently offer certification, organisers believe its practical value and real-world impact speak for themselves. “We are building an ecosystem of young people who are ready to create, connect, and lead,” he said.
Scaling Impact and Looking Ahead
As Ghana faces a growing youth population and rising unemployment, initiatives such as this have become critical to national development. The organisers believe the training contributes meaningfully to preparing a generation of self-reliant, digitally empowered individuals.
Registration for the Digital Skills Training Programme is free and accessible through the MyMTN App. Participants receive full access to all sessions and are encouraged to take advantage of networking and mentorship opportunities.
Some of the trainees who spoke to the News Ghana expressed deep appreciation to MTN Ghana and Stanbic Bank for the opportunity, describing the training as timely and transformative. They pledged to put the digital skills and tools acquired into practical use to improve their businesses, enhance their careers, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
