Ghana’s annual four-month moratorium on the hunting, capturing, and killing of wild animals commenced on Friday, creating a protected period for wild animals during their breeding season to ensure sustainability, a news release has said.
The release from the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission issued late Thursday said the moratorium, which will last until Dec. 1, focuses on rallying all stakeholders to fight illegal practices that harm wildlife.
The closed season, which is timed to coincide with the breeding period of most wild animals, is part of the measures employed by Ghanaian authorities to regulate the utilization of wildlife resources to ensure sustainability. Enditem
