The Ghana Police Service has arrested the Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, according to sources on Monday.
According to our sources, the reason behind the arrest remains unclear, as the police have yet to issue any official statement.
Abronye DC, a controversial political figure, has recently been in the spotlight after filing applications for political asylum in eight countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
In his petition, he claimed to be facing “consistent, escalating political persecution, threats to my life, and systemic abuse of state security powers by the current Government of Ghana,” which he argued warranted international protection.
Ahead of his arrest, armed police officers reportedly raided the home of former NPP Youth Organizer Moses Abor on Sunday in search of Abronye. However, he was not found at the location. End item
