By Francis Kobena Tandoh

The Vetting Committee of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to vet all five presidential hopefuls of the party beginning Tuesday, September 23, 2025, according to our sources.

Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former General Secretary Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Member of Parliament for Abetifi Constituency, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, are expected to present their political vision, leadership credentials, and strategy to unite the party ahead of the polls.

If cleared by the committee, the aspirants will officially make it onto the ballot for the NPP’s flagbearership contest, which is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in the party’s recent history.

The vetting is a crucial step for all aspirants seeking to secure the party’s mandate to lead in the next general election. It is designed to ensure transparency, fairness, and compliance with the NPP’s internal rules and regulations.

The NPP will hold a presidential primary on January 31, 2026, to elect a flagbearer to lead the party in the 2028 general election. Enditem
