Cameroon, Chad sign defense cooperation deal

Cameroon and Chad have signed a military cooperation agreement to strengthen security along their shared border, Cameroon’s Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday.

   Cameroonian Defense Minister Joseph Beti Assomo and his Chadian counterpart Issaka Maloua Djamous signed the deal on Tuesday in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon.

   The ministry said in a statement that the agreement will enhance joint ground operations and facilitate the sharing of strategic security information between the two countries.

   Cameroon and Chad are facing growing border security challenges, including Boko Haram terrorism and illicit cross-border trafficking.  Enditem
