Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s returnee striker, Albert Amoah, scored a spectacular goal to assist the Porcupines’ thrash Basake Holy Stars 3-0 in matchday 20 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Having gone three games without a win, Abdul Karim Zito’s side picked up all three points with three goals.

Captain Samba O’Neil began it all by converting a penalty to give his side the lead in the 30th minute of the first half. Despite piling pressure, Kotoko failed to score again, going into the break at 1-0.

Back from recess, the Porcupine Warriors kept pushing, and their efforts were rewarded in the 74th minute when Albert Amoah came from the bench to hit a bicycle kick from a cross straight into the net for Kotoko’s second.

Kotoko’s Kwame Opoku also came on from the bench to score on his first touch, similarly to Amoah, after receiving a cross from his colleague striker, making the scoreline 3-0.

The win by the Kumasi-based club moves them up to second position on the league log, keeping their title ambition alive, although Kotoko remain eight points behind leaders Medeama.

The Porcupine Warriors will travel to Kpando to face Heart of Lions in their next game, while Basake Holy Stars will be at home to welcome Berekum Chelsea in matchday 21 of the GPL. Enditem
