The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has appointed a new board of directors for Ghana Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, according to a statement on Friday.
The board, to be headed by Mr. James Osei Brown as its chairman, has been constituted by the Owner and Life Patron of the Kumasi-based club, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
An official statement from Manhyia Palace confirming the appointment of the new board on Friday, February 27, said, “His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has appointed a new Board of Directors for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.
“The Chairman of the Board is Mr. James Osei Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Joshob Construction, with Mr. Kwasi Osei Ofori, Chief Executive Officer of Rocksure, as the Vice-Chairman.”
It added, “Other appointees are Mr. Kofi Amoa-Abban, Founder and Chief Executive of Rigworld Group.”
According to the statement from Manhyia, the new team is expected to assume the statutory oversight responsibilities of the Board immediately.
However, the Interim Management Committee will continue to perform the management duties until the end of the 2025/2026 Premier League season.
The Chief of Staff at Manhyia, Mr. Kofi Badu, on Friday presided over a meeting at which the new Board was introduced to the interim management team and called for cooperation to ensure a smooth transition.
At the meeting, the Chairman, Mr. Osei Brown assured of the board’s determination to raise Asante Kotoko SC to the height it deserves and urged the management to double their efforts through the remaining weeks of the season.
Nana. Akwasi Awuah Apinkrah, the Chairman of the IMC, welcomed the new Board and pledged the full support of the team during the period of transition.
