Member of Parliament (MP) for Abetifi and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has launched a scathing attack on his critics over comments he is purported to have made against former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on the Kusasi-Mamprusi conflict.
In a strong-worded statement from the Bryan Acheampong Campaign, signed by Pius Enam Hadzide, condemned a video on social media, mischievously put together to misrepresent a genuine concern the NPP presidential aspirant put out publicly.
“Our attention has been drawn to a video, mischievously placed together and venomously captioned, making rounds on social media and its associated serial misrepresentation on social media. Dr. Bryan Acheampong has not, at any point, blamed former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the Kusasi-Mamprusi conflict,” read the statement.
“His comments in the original video clearly stated that Dr. Bawumia was a “victim of circumstance,” not a cause of division. Dr. Acheampong continues to express deep respect for the former vice president,” clarified the statement.
The statement further explained that the referenced comments were part of a grand agenda to weaken the front of the New Patriotic Party in key regions and constituencies ahead of the 2028 general election.
The former Food and Agriculture Minister, the statement further noted, is geared towards working to ensure the NPP is united around a winning strategy and candidate in the next general election.
“Unity, transparency, and results anchor his campaign.” His vision is to position the NPP for decisive victory in 2028 and to govern with the strength and clarity needed to resolve the deep-rooted issues holding communities and the nation back,” it added.
The Byran Campaign urged NPP members to listen to the full recording of the relevant portion and disregard the agenda-driven video put together by their detractors. Enditem
