Basic schools will reopen on September 2, this year to commence the 2025/2026 academic year, according to the Ghana Education Service (GES) over the weekend.
According to the statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, the Head of Public Relations, the academic year, which begins on September 2, 2025, will end on July 24, 2026.
The calendar covers Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High Schools and outlines term dates, vacation periods, and examination timelines.
The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has been scheduled to take place from May 4 to May 11, 2026.
GES reminded all stakeholders to observe public holidays within the academic year and noted that each term would include a two-day mid-term break. Heads of schools, teachers, students, and parents have been urged to take note of the dates and prepare adequately for the new academic year.
The statement also expressed gratitude to school heads, teachers, parents, and students for their dedication and efforts in ensuring the success of the 2024/2025 academic year, which ends on July 24, 2025. Enditem
