Former Vice and aspiring presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has concluded a two-day tour of the Eastern Region (province), according to a post on his official Facebook page late Friday.
During the tour, the former Vice President held what he describes as “fruitful engagements” and interacted with past and present party leaders and NPP government officials.
“I concluded two days of fruitful engagements involving interactions with past and present party leaders and NPP government officials in the Eastern Region yesterday. I reiterated my resolve to lead the charge of the Elephant for victory in Election 2028,” said Dr. Bawumia.
He urged all members of the NPP to work together, irrespective of their backgrounds, to ensure they recapture political power from the governing National Democratic Congress.
“Together, we can build a party that rewards all our hardworking members irrespective of their background or location, and make a swift return to power,” he added.
The NPP will hold a presidential primary on January 31, 2026, and five aspirants, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong, former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, have declared their intention to contest the primary.
