Former Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz said on Thursday that his new job as the manager of Ghana’s male senior football national team, the Black Stars, is the biggest in his entire career.
During a press conference following his unveiling, the former Real Madrid manager remarked that the Ghana job is the most significant in his four decades of coaching owing to the huge expectations of the fans ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Since I arrived, I have felt the vibration. I realized the soul of the Black Stars is huge, and as a result, the expectations are huge. This is the biggest challenge of my entire career, and I am ready for that. I can promise that I will bring my forty years of experience to help,” said Queiroz.
He expressed optimism that with the support of all stakeholders in the country, the team will chalk up success.
“I trust that with the support of my staff, the board, and the fans, all united as one Ghana, we can bring success and happiness to the people of Ghana.” In simple words, I can say I’m ready, so let’s do it together,” added the former Portugal coach.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Thursday unveiled former Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz as the new manager for the country’s male senior football national team, the Black Stars, at a ceremony in the national capital.
The ceremony, which brought all those who matter in football in the West African country together at the headquarters of the FA, was used to introduce the veteran tactician to the fans and the Ghanaian public.
The Portuguese tactician expressed his gratitude to the government of Ghana, the federation, and the fans for the privilege and honor done him.
With the unveiling by the GFA, Carlos Queiroz, who arrived in the West African country on Wednesday, officially begins his job as Black Stars coach with less than 50 days to the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Executive Committee of the GFA last week appointed Queiroz as the new manager, replacing Otto Addo.
Ghana, making its fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, has been paired in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. Enditem
