Chinese business community supports Ghana’s grassroots sports development

The Ghana-Anhui Chamber of Commerce, a Chinese business association, on Tuesday donated a consignment of kits to the government of Ghana to support the country’s grassroots sports development.

The chamber presented 600 pairs of footwear and 1,520 T-shirts to support the 2027 Constituency Games launched by the government through the National Sports Authority (NSA).

Tang Wei, president of the Ghana-Anhui Chamber of Commerce, who presented the items, said the donation was in support of President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of rebuilding Ghana’s sports from the grassroots through the nationwide constituency games.

“Our donation of clothes and footwear is more than the presentation of items. It is an investment in hope, opportunity, and a better tomorrow. Through this partnership, we celebrate the enduring friendship between Ghana and China,” he added.

NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah lauded the Chinese business community for the massive support extended to the Constituency Games, which seeks to provide a structured pathway for talented athletes from the community level to regional and national competitions.

“We have this very powerful Chinese community coming in to support. We thank them for their generous donation,” Ankrah added.

Planned by the Ghanaian government, the Constituency Games is a community-owned national talent discovery platform and a core pillar of Mahama’s “Reset Ghana Sports” agenda.  Enditem
