South African coach Eric Tinkler has left his job as head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko after just three months in charge, the club confirmed on Monday.
The 54-year-old, who was appointed in July ahead of the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season, departs after overseeing only four league matches.
In a statement, Kotoko said the club’s board had accepted the coach’s request to leave despite efforts to persuade him to continue.
“The board of directors of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has agreed to the request of its head coach, Eric Tinkler, to be released from his contract with the club effective immediately for personal reasons,” the club said.
It added that both parties had held “meaningful negotiations” in an attempt to avoid the decision before ultimately respecting Tinkler’s wishes.
During his tenure as head coach, the Kumasi-based club won one, drew two, and lost one, with his last match ending in a 2-0 defeat at home against Aduana FC.
The result left the Porcupine Warriors ninth in the league table and handed Tinkler his first defeat since taking over. Enditem
