A total of 123 countries on Wednesday voted in favour of the slavery reparations motion proposed by Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The resolution called on the UN to recognise the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade as the gravest crime ever committed against humanity.
After an extensive debate, the motion was adopted with 123 votes in support. Three countries — the United States, Argentina, and Israel however voted against it, while 52 nations abstained.
