By Francis Kobena Tandoh

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Tuesday dismissed reports circulating in the media indicating that Brigadier General Michael Opoku has been arrested by security operatives for possessing ammunition.

According to a statement signed by Captain V.A. Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the GAF said checks with security agencies and national investigative bodies had proved otherwise.

“The Armed Forces can confirm that Brigadier General Michael Opoku remains an active member of the Ghana Armed Forces and is not under arrest for any crime committed,” read the statement.

The GAF further assured the public that, despite the false report, any military personnel found culpable of criminal activity would be subjected to due legal processes like any other citizen.

The statement further described the report as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it and cautioning against the spread of misinformation and disinformation. Enditem
