The Black Stars of Ghana beat Trinidad & Tobago 4-0 to place third in the 2025 Unity Cup at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium in west London on Saturday.
Ghana, having lost in their semi-final match against West African rivals Nigeria on Wednesday, were on an image redemption mission and hence made their intentions clear right from the blast of the whistle for the commencement of the game.
Ghana captain Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for the Black Stars in the 6th minute when a left-footed shot he delivered outside the box of Trinidad & Tobago beat the goalkeeper into the net.
Youngster Razak Simpson connected a corner delivered by Ayew with his head into the net in the 11th minute, scoring his first-ever international goal for his country and Ghana’s second.
The West Africans continued to play some delightful football, and a build-up from their half of the field found Ayew, who gave an assist to Mohammed Fuseini Gadafi to also score his first-ever goal for his country, ending the first half 3-0 in favor of the Black Stars.
Back into the second half, Ghana continued to pile pressure on their opponents, and a brilliant play from the flank saw Lawrence Agyekum’s shot pass through the legs of the Trinidad & Tobago goalkeeper for the fourth goal of the game.
Trinidad & Tobago began to pick up after conceding four goals; however, their efforts were not enough to score a consolation goal. The match ended 4-0 for Ghana. Enditem
