The Ghanaian government has condemned the Israeli attack on Qatar that has resulted in the loss of lives, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

According to the government, the unprovoked attacks on the sovereignty of Qatar constitute a clear violation of international law.

“The government of the Republic of Ghana has learnt with deep concern the unprovoked Israeli attack on the sovereign state of Qatar, resulting in casualties, loss of lives, and loss of properties. The Government of the Republic of Ghana condemns the attack in view of the fact that the airstrikes constitute a violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of the state of Qatar,” read the statement.

The Ghanaian government observed that the attack undermines the ongoing pursuit of peace between the states of Palestine and Israel.

The statement further assured of Ghana’s solidarity with the people and the Emir of Qatar and commended them for their tireless and impressive commitment towards the resolution of the conflict between the states of Israel and Palestine.

Israel launched an unprecedented airstrike in the Qatari capital of Doha on Tuesday, targeting a building housing senior Hamas officials in what Israeli authorities described as an attempt to assassinate leaders of the group.

Five members of Hamas and a Qatari security officer were killed during the strike, while key members of the negotiating team survived. Enditem
