Former boss of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid has declared his intention to contest for the National Vice Chairman position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when nominations are opened, according a statement on Tuesday.
The statement, signed by the former NPA boss, said has been informed by persistent calls on him by several persons within the main opposition party to run for the office.
“In the past few days, there have been persistent calls for me to run for office as a national executive member of our great party. The rank and file have sent out a clarion call to me, to place my experience, institutional memory and strategic insight at the disposal of our collective revival. I have listened,” read the statement.
“Therefore, I hereby formally announce my decision to vie for the position of National Vice Chairman when nominations open,” added the statement.
Mr. Abdul-Hamid further touted his credentials as a scholar in the true sense of the word and added he possess the firepower to give covering fire to whoever is elected as Chairman of the NPP. Enditem
