Nordic countries launch joint military aid package for Ukraine

Norway, Sweden and Denmark have unveiled a joint military support package for Ukraine, aimed at securing urgently needed U.S.-made defense equipment through an initiative coordinated by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the Norwegian government announced on Tuesday.

The three Nordic countries will jointly finance one of the first aid packages under the new U.S. initiative known as the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), which is designed to expedite the delivery of critical military supplies to Ukraine.

Under the plan, Ukraine will receive American-made air defense systems, including additional missiles for the Patriot system.

Norway will initially contribute 1.5 billion Norwegian kroner (146 million U.S. dollars), while the combined value of the joint package with Sweden and Denmark is estimated at around 5 billion kroner. (1 Norwegian krone = 0.097 U.S. dollar) Enditem
