NPP appoints former presidential aspirants as co-chairs of newly constituted sector committees

As part of efforts to promote internal cohesion ahead of the 2028 general election, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appointed former presidential aspirants to co-chair various committees of the party, according to a statement on Friday.

The statement, signed by party General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, said the standing committees were constituted pursuant to Article 10 (2)(6) of the party’s constitution, while the sector committees were constituted in accordance with Articles 10 (3)(8) and 14 (5) of the party constitution.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has been made a co-chair of the Education Committee, while MP for Abetifi Dr. Bryan Acheampong has been given the same portfolio at the Security, Intelligence, and Defense Committee.

Former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and former General Secretary Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong have been made co-chairs of the Employment & Job and Roads Committee, respectively.

According to the NPP, “The composition of the standing and sector committees forms part of the party’s efforts to strengthen its internal structures, deepen policy development, enhance stakeholder engagement, and reposition the party for effective political organization and national governance.”

The committee are expected to support the party’s strategic direction by providing expert guidance and leadership across the various sectors and thematic areas.

The party congratulated the various co-chairs and expressed confidence in their ability to discharge their responsibilities diligently in the interest of the party and the country at large. Enditem
