The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has eulogized Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, for his contributions towards the party’s political campaigns, according to a statement released here on Saturday.
The statement, signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, observed that the late musician’s contributions to the party through the “Nana ye Winner” track he composed are acknowledged by the party.
“For us in the New Patriotic Party, his melodious contribution to our campaigns in 2018, 2012, and 2016, through the famous “Nana Ye Winner” track in its original and remix versions, remains deeply etched in the political history of our tradition and the country. Even our political opponents acknowledged the power and inspiration behind those songs, according to the statement.
The party described the late musician as a symbol of cultural pride who connected with all manner of persons.
“Daddy Lumba, celebrated for his distinctive voice and timeless melodies, has long stood as a symbol of cultural pride. Through his music, he masterfully told stories of love, hope, and resilience, creating a legacy that continues to resonate across generations. His exceptional ability to connect with people from all walks of life was a testament to his extraordinary talent and dedication to his craft,” added the NPP.
The main opposition party extended its deepest condolences to the family of Daddy Lumba on his painful passing. stressing that “his remarkable contributions to the Ghanaian music industry, without a shred of doubt, have touched countless people.”
The party further emphasized that Daddy Lumba will be remembered not only for his immense contributions to music but also for his role in uplifting and uniting the Ghanaian spirit and that his influence will endure and continue to inspire future generations of artists and music lovers.
Charles Kwadwo Fosu was reported to have died at the Bank Hospital in the Ghanaian capital on Saturday after a short illness, the family confirmed.
His music career spans over three decades. Some of his popular hits include “Theresa,” “Aben wo ha,” “Ye ne wo sere kwa,” and “Ma kra mo,” among several others. Enditem
