The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it will stage a nationwide demonstration on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in protest against what it describes as growing threats to Ghana’s democracy and the rule of law, according to National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as Nana B on Friday.
The largest opposition party in the country says the protest is intended to draw attention to concerns over governance, justice, and constitutionalism.
According to the NPP, the demonstration will be held in collaboration with other political parties and civil society groups. The party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, said the protest is aimed at “safeguarding Ghana’s democracy” and urged supporters across the country to participate peacefully.
The August 6 protest comes amid heightened political tensions following a series of legal and governance disputes that the opposition argues undermine democratic institutions. Government officials have yet to issue a comprehensive response to the planned demonstration. Enditem
