Two Palestinians were killed and 13 others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in Gaza City’s Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood on Sunday.
Footage shows the burnt-out vehicle, its interior and the surrounding street stained with blood and scattered with belongings. Two bodies can also be seen being transported to Al-Shifa Medical Complex.
At the scene, eyewitness Mohammed Ajneid held up household items he said had been recovered from the vehicle, insisting those inside were civilians.
“They went out to purchase clothes, these spoons. Are these stuff missiles or pistols? It was just a civilian vehicle driving by. Where is the talk about ending the war?” he said.
“They [IDF] thought they were terrorists, but they are unarmed civilians. Look how much bloodstains. There is a lack of security in this country, as we move in fear,” he added.
Asked whether he believed the war had ended, Ajneid said the situation was instead getting worse.
“The war has not ceased, on the contrary, it is escalating. A house in Al-Katiba area [Gaza City] has been targeted.”
He later pointed again to belongings recovered from the car as he questioned the strike.
Reports said those wounded in the strike suffered injuries of varying severity.
The Israeli military said the strike targeted and killed two Hamas operatives, but did not immediately provide their names or further details.
The October 2025 US-backed ceasefire halted widespread combat operations in the Gaza Strip, but Israeli airstrikes persisted in the enclave amid Israeli accusations against Hamas of agreement violations.
Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed that 1,369 Palestinians were killed and 4,627 others were injured, with 831 bodies retrieved from underneath the rubble, since the ceasefire took effect.
The Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, 2023, after the movement conducted attacks, resulting in the death of 1,139 people, most of them Israeli civilians, and saw more than 200 others taken hostage.
Israel responded with a large-scale military campaign in Gaza, including air strikes and a ground offensive. At the time of publication, the campaign had killed 73,783 Palestinians and injured 174,738 others.
