Nigerian police on Thursday said a rescue operation has been launched after a group of armed men attacked a dormitory of the Nasarawa State University and abducted at least six students in Nigeria’s central region.
The gunmen invaded an off-campus hostel in Gudi town, Akwanga Local Government Area, late Wednesday, according to Rahman Nansel, spokesperson for the police in Nasarawa.
The victims, identified as students of the university’s faculty of engineering, were forced into a waiting vehicle and taken to an unknown destination.
A combined security team has intensified the rescue operation “aimed at tracking down the abductors, rescuing the victims unhurt and bringing the perpetrators to justice,” Nansel added. Enditem
