UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met his Senegalese counterpart Bassirou Diomaye Faye in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, with investment, economic cooperation and development high on the agenda.
Footage shows a vehicle carrying Faye arriving for the meeting, where he is received by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, before holding talks with Sheikh Mohamed.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the two leaders discussed “various aspects of UAE-Senegalese relations and opportunities to develop them, especially in the investment, economic, and development fields, as well as other vital areas, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and their vision for achieving development and prosperity for their peoples.”
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed the UAE’s interest in “strengthening its cooperation in development fields with countries of the African continent, including Senegal, based on the state’s firm approach to building effective development partnerships that serve everyone’s interest in progress and prosperity.”
The leaders also discussed preparations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, which the UAE and Senegal will co-host in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10.
