3 civilians killed, one injured in military escort at Binduri -GAF confirms

At least three persons were killed and one injured when a military escort convoy leading over a hundred civilians was attacked by assailants at Binduri in the Upper East Region, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) confirmed in a statement on Monday.

The statement, signed by Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General in charge of Public Relations, said the military exchanged fire with the attackers, resulting in the killing of seven of the assailants.

“A Ghana Armed Forces escort convoy protecting 140 civilians was attacked this morning, Monday, 27 May 2026, at Binduri by unknown assailants. The convoy from Bawku town towards Bolga was shot at several times, resulting in the death of three of the civilians being escorted and injuring one,” read the statement.

The military personnel, according to the statement, also arrested 10 suspects and retrieved a G3 automatic rifle, 2 filled magazines of 20 rounds each, and 176 rounds of additional ammunition.

The GAF cautioned armed groups in the country to desist from engaging the military or any other security agency during its operations. Enditem
