Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Wednesday officially kicked off a nationwide campaign tour to visit all 276 constituencies in Ghana.
The tour, which has been described by his camp as “grassroots-focused,” will enable the former Vice President of the Republic to meet with polling station and electoral area coordinators, constituency executives (current & former), former Members of Parliament (MPs), ex-Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), patrons, elders, and several other party persons.
The tour aims to directly engage with party members, listen to their concerns, foster consensus, and fortify the NPP from its foundation.
The campaign frames the initiative as a commitment to listening, consensus-building, and strengthening party unity ahead of the NPP presidential primary early next year.
There is an emphasis on issue-based engagement rather than personal attacks. Party members, communicators, and volunteers have been directed to avoid insults or derogatory language toward other aspirants or their supporters.
The NPP will hold a presidential primary on January 31, 2026, to elect a flagbearer to lead the party in the 2028 general election.
Five presidential hopefuls, including former Assin Central Constituency MP Ken Ohene Agyapong, Abetifi MP Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Education Minister and MP for Bosomtwe Constituency Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former General Secretary of the party Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, have been cleared by the party to contest the presidential primary. Enditem
