The United States will expedite visa application processing for football fans travelling to the USA for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced on Wednesday.

In a post shared on X, formerly Twitter, Hon. Ablakwa said the decision by the US to extend the trade agreement came to light after a high-level bilateral meeting between Ghanaian officials and a United States delegation led by Acting US Ambassador Rolf Olson in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.

“Yesterday, we conducted a comprehensive assessment of our Ghana-US bilateral relations and agreed on priority areas for cooperation in 2026. On World Cup preparations, we were assured that special measures have been put in place to expedite visa applications. This is also expected to address the current delays in securing visa appointment, which we all agree must be fixed,” read the post.

West African country, Ghana, is among eight other African countries that have qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be held in the U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico.
