Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference outdoors Prof. Deodat E. Adenutsi as Director of Education for Africa

The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) has officially outdoored Professor Deodat E. Adenutsi as its new Director of Education (Africa), according to a statement released on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the appointment marks a significant step in strengthening the GITFiC’s commitment to research-driven dialogue, capacity building, and policy-oriented education in international trade, finance, and economics within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area, which it has championed since 2019.

Professor Deodat E. Adenutsi brings to GITFiC a distinguished career in academia, research, and higher education leadership. With over 25 years of extensive experience in teaching economics, development finance, research, policy management, and multi-donor programme management. As a seasoned trainer and consultant, he has delivered capacity-building programmes for governments, financial institutions, SMEs, and civil society organisations across Africa.

He holds a PhD in Development Finance from the University of Stellenbosch and has served as a Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC., USA. Prof. Adenutsi has published extensively in internationally indexed journals on digital finance, international economics and finance, corporate governance, financial development, and macroeconomic policy. He is widely recognised for his contributions to scholarships and his dedication to mentoring the next generation of professionals and policymakers.

In his new role, Professor Adenutsi will lead the development and implementation of the GITFiC-AfCFTA Educational Strategy underpinned by the Agenda 2031, which comprises the Global Debt Initiative and the AfCFTA Implementation Support Initiatives, including executive training programs, policy research initiatives, academic partnerships, and professional development modules. He will oversee the effective implementation of GITFiC-AfCFTA designed Curriculum for Africa’s Tertiary Institutions, which is currently running smoothly in some selected universities in Africa. He will also ensure academic rigor across all training platforms and foster collaborations between academia, industry, and governments in Africa to enhance knowledge exchange programs and practical impact.

Under his direction, The GITFiC aims to expand its AfCFTA Executive Education Program, deepen its engagement with regional and international trade and economic bodies, and strengthen its thought leadership in areas such as trade facilitation, financial innovation, economic integration, and digital commerce.
