NPP suspends polling station election processes at Amasaman Constituency

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended the processes leading to polling station elections in the Amasaman constituency in the Greater Accra Region, according to a memorandum issued by the party over the weekend.

The memorandum, signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, addressed to the Greater Accra Regional Steering Committee and copied to the Constituency Executive Committee at Amasaman, said the suspension is coming on the back of a petition by some aggrieved members of the party.

“I wish to communicate to you the decision of the National Council of the party at its meeting on Thursday, 7th May 2026, concerning processes leading to the polling station election at the Amasaman Constituency.

National Council, upon considering a petition from some aggrieved members of the party in the constituency and on the recommendation of the Regional Party, has suspended the polling station election processes in the constituency until further notice,” read the memo.

The NPP, after its presidential primary on Jan. 31, is preparing to elect polling station executives as part of its internal party organization ahead of the 2028 general election.

Although clear guidelines were announced for election conduct at polling stations, some areas of the country allegedly breached these guidelines. Enditem
