A police inspector stationed at the Mamponteng District has been interdicted for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old biological daughter, the Ashanti North Regional Police Command said in a statement over the weekend.

The statement, signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Agbodzi, staff officer/acting public relations officer for the command, said a complaint was formally lodged by Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua on behalf of her daughter, alleging that the victim had been sexually abused by her biological father.

Following the report, the police referred the victim for a medical examination at a government health facility to assist in their investigations.

According to the police, the inspector reported himself to the Agona Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), where he was arrested and a statement of caution obtained from him.

The suspect, who denied all the allegations leveled against him, was subsequently released on police inquiry bail.
