Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over relegated Eleven Wonders in matchday 32 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday afternoon.
The result handed interim coach Hamza Obeng his first victory since taking charge and ended Kotoko’s four-match winless run in the Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko took the lead in the 39th minute through Lawson Kyei Manu, who produced a fine curled finish to put the Porcupine Warriors ahead before halftime.
The hosts continued to dominate after the break and sealed the victory in the 69th minute when youngster Anthony Duah scored on his senior debut after being promoted from the youth team by Obeng.
It marked a memorable afternoon for the young striker, whose goal capped an encouraging display from Kotoko’s emerging talents.
The victory offers a timely boost for Kotoko after a difficult spell that had seen their title hopes fade during the second half of the season.
For Eleven Wonders, the defeat extended a miserable run of form. The relegated side are now without a victory in 13 consecutive matches, managing only one draw during that period since their last win in January.
Kotoko will come up against Bechem United in their next league fixture, while Eleven Wonders prepare to face Berekum Chelsea at home. Enditem
