Ghana and the Kingdom of the Netherlands have signed a letter of intent to strengthen cooperation to combat illicit drugs and drug markets, Foreign Minister (FM) Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced Sunday.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, after Ablakwa and the Netherlands minister of justice and security, D.M. Van Weel, signed the agreement in the Ghanaian capital, the FM said the agreement builds on the Accra call to action and is intended to deepen international collaboration in fighting the menace.
He expressed confidence the joint efforts by the two nations will help eliminate the menace, which is destroying young lives, undermining public health, weakening the rule of law, and affecting human rights.
“Ghana and the Netherlands have signed a special letter of intent to jointly combat illicit drugs and drug markets. We are confident that genuine and reliable international collaboration will eliminate drug markets flooding our countries with cocaine, synthetics, and criminal money,” said the foreign minister.
